Excessive sweatingEveryday comfort, back again
Targeted injections to reduce underarm sweating. The medication may be covered by some insurance plans.
Sweating is normal. But when it becomes heavy enough that you have to change shirts at work, avoid light colours, pick your clothes around sweat marks or stop raising your arms, it can take a real toll on confidence and quality of life.
Excessive sweating, also called hyperhidrosis, often affects the underarms, even in people who are not especially warm or active. It can be linked to overactive sweat glands and does not always depend on hygiene or weight.
The treatment
Targeted neuromodulator injections can temporarily reduce the activity of the glands responsible for sweating in the treated area. The treatment works locally: it does not block normal sweating on the rest of the body.
Before the injections, a topical numbing cream is applied to make the treatment more comfortable.
The injection procedure takes about 30 minutes. The effects become gradually visible within 7 to 14 days after treatment. The effect lasts 6 to 8 months on average; some people enjoy a longer result.
Most clients come back about once a year, or when their symptoms return.
The goal is simple: to let you wear what you like, move more freely and stop planning your day around sweating.
For diagnosed hyperhidrosis, the medication may be covered in full or in part by some private insurance plans. In some situations, coverage by the public plan may also be possible, depending on the applicable criteria and your medical file.
The physician assesses your situation during the consultation, confirms whether the treatment is appropriate and provides a prescription when needed. Final eligibility always depends on your insurer or the plan involved.
