Stretch marks and scarsDermapen 4 microneedling + TCA peel

Stretch marks and scars can have different origins, but they have one thing in common: they change the texture, relief and sometimes the colour of the skin. Our combined approach aims to stimulate skin renewal and collagen production to gradually improve their appearance.

Stretch marks can appear during pregnancy, at puberty, with weight changes or with rapid changes in muscle mass. They reflect damage to the collagen and elastin fibres when the skin stretches faster than it can adapt.

Scars can be linked to acne, surgery, an injury, a burn or skin inflammation. Some are darker, red or purplish; others are white, indented or irregular. Each type of mark calls for an individual assessment.

Our combined approach

We use Dermapen 4 microneedling combined with a TCA peel, adapted to the area, the type of mark and your skin.

The Dermapen 4 creates controlled micro-channels in the skin. These micro-perforations trigger the skin’s natural repair mechanisms and gradually stimulate collagen and elastin production. The goal is to improve texture, reduce the appearance of indentations and make the skin more even.

The TCA (trichloroacetic acid) peel is applied in a targeted way to support skin renewal, improve its surface appearance and help fade pigmentation irregularities. The concentration and application are personalized according to the depth of the scar or stretch mark, the area treated and your skin type.

Microneedling works in the dermis, where collagen is stimulated, while the TCA peel acts on skin renewal at the surface. This combination can contribute to a more complete improvement in relief, texture and evenness.

What the treatment can improve

  • Red, pink, purplish or white stretch marks.
  • Indented or irregular acne scars.
  • Surgical or injury scars, once fully healed.
  • Post-inflammatory marks, depending on their cause and the skin assessment.
  • Irregular texture and uneven relief.
  • Colour difference between the scar or stretch mark and the surrounding skin.

Recent stretch marks and more recent scars often respond better to treatment. Older marks can also improve, but generally need more sessions and a realistic approach.

Areas that can be treated

  • Face, especially for acne scars.
  • Abdomen.
  • Hips and flanks.
  • Thighs.
  • Buttocks.
  • Breasts.
  • Arms.
  • Back.
  • Legs.
  • Localized scar areas, after assessment.

Some scars must not be treated with this protocol, including hypertrophic, keloid, active, inflamed, infected or not fully healed scars.

How the treatment goes

Before starting, we assess the type of scar or stretch mark, its depth, colour and age, the area treated, your skin type and your expectations. The Dermapen 4 settings and the TCA peel application are then adapted to your situation.

The treatment starts with Dermapen 4 microneedling, followed by a targeted TCA peel application when that step is indicated. The sensation varies with the area treated and the depth used, but it is generally well tolerated.

The session generally lasts 45 to 75 minutes, depending on the area treated.

Results and recovery

A protocol of 6 to 8 sessions is generally recommended for stretch marks and some scars. Depending on the type, extent and age of the scar, a different number of sessions may be suggested at the consultation.

Results are gradual and cumulative. An improvement may be visible after each appointment, but collagen remodelling continues for several weeks after the treatment.

Aftercare

After the session, the skin may be red, warm and tender, like after a mild to moderate sunburn. With the TCA peel, light peeling or a temporary darkening of the treated area may appear before the skin renews itself.

  • Do not scratch, rub or pull off the small flakes of skin.
  • Use the recommended moisturizing and soothing products.
  • Avoid exfoliants, retinoids and irritating products until fully healed.
  • Avoid direct sun exposure; use sun protection if the area is exposed.
  • Avoid very hot baths, saunas, intense workouts and excessive heat for the first few days.
  • Follow the personalized instructions given after your appointment.

A realistic improvement

The goal is to visibly soften stretch marks and scars, improve their texture and relief, then reduce their contrast with the surrounding skin. No treatment can guarantee they disappear completely.

A consultation is needed to determine whether the Dermapen 4 combined with a TCA peel is appropriate for your type of scar or stretch mark and to set a treatment plan that is safe, realistic and suited to your skin.
